Maternal disparities for women of color, Black and Hispanic mothers, in the United States are increasing at an epidemic rate. Eliminating disparities found in antenatal, postnatal, and infant trauma or loss is a combustive approach involving diligent wellness care by medical providers, behavioral providers, social services providers, and family members. Comfort & Care Home Services LLC as a behavioral provider, understands psychological disturbances during pregnancy are associated with inadequate antenatal care, low-birth weight, preterm delivery, and trauma and death, and while in the postpartum, it is associated with diminished emotional involvement, neglect, and hostility towards the newborn. To help eliminate this consequential effect on women, particularly women of color, we work with them to eliminate the following:
- Fears that come with being pregnant
- Lack of family support
- Antenatal and Postnatal stress
- Past and current psychiatric disorders: major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, social phobia, specific phobia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Past and current sexual, physical, and emotional abuse
- Current exposure to intimate partner violence
- Substance abuse disorders include alcohol and marijuana
Comfort & Care Home Services LLC also provides support services to eliminate other barriers like income, housing, food, and transportation.
Women of color and their families can benefit from our services because we help ensure the wellness of a mom throughout her pregnancy and after, and this results in a healthy mom and baby.
